It has been a busy summer of data entry and analysis for the AdSleep team but we are finally starting to see our results and they look very interesting! Whilst there were lots of positive sleep behaviours, such as many pupils achieving good sleep quality, there is evidence of poor sleep hygiene behaviours (e.g., caffiene consumption before bed and napping). Overall, sleep was worse for Year 9 pupils than Year 7 pupils. In fact, Year 9s are sleeping less than the recommended duration for their age group whilst Year 7s are only just reaching the bottom end of this recommendation. It is early days but our data suggests that poorer sleep habits are impacting memory performance in Year 9s. Click here to see the poster summarising these findings!
